Holy Cross: Faith in Our Future
Jan. 19 to 22, 2009

The University of Notre Dame family and the Congregation of Holy Cross are joining in an annual celebration of the feast day for Holy Cross founder Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C., and his legacy, including joy in community, faith and hope in the Cross of Christ, and excellence in education of both the mind and the heart.

Rev. Basil Moreau, C.S.C., was beatified by the Catholic Church on Sept. 15, 2007. JAN. 19 :: Vigil Prayer Service

Gather to pray through the intercession of Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C., on the eve of his feast. Our prayers include his canonization as a saint of the Church and vocations to the Congregation of Holy Cross.

8 pm. Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Lady Chapel.

JAN. 20 :: Mass for the Feast of Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C.

The Holy Cross community joins hands with the Notre Dame family in observing this feast.

Celebrant: Rev. David Tyson, C.S.C., Provincial Superior, Indiana Province.

5:15 pm. Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

JAN. 20 :: Men in Black: Inspirations and Reflections

A panel of Holy Cross priests offers casual recollections and conversation about their life and work—a chance to get to know Holy Cross better.

JAN. 22 :: The Blessed Basil Moreau Lecture: Prof. John Cavadini

"The Cross Our Only Hope: Two Christian Views of Suffering."

The chair of Notre Dame’s Department of Theology offers a scholar's thoughts on topics close to our society, our faith, and our minds and hearts in this inaugural presentation of a distinguished lecture series.

Prof. Mary Ellen O’Connell of Notre Dame Law School is Discussant.
